So, we had Marvel Zombies, we've had crossovers between universes, between the sexes, superhero babies and other odd configurations...BUT MARVEL APES!?

I love adult swim for many reasons; the many shows, their lack of tact, the amazing variety of offensive and yet funny-as-hell material, but one of my present favorites is the Venture Brothers, and here's just one more reason why:))

Nothing like watching Johnny Quest on Acid and Viagra for a good time!

My friend [info]theferrett is currently attending Clarion Science Fiction Writer's Workshop this month, and you would think that it would be an ideal place for the creative process...

ENTER: CRIME!

Apparently, one of the dorms that some of the students is staying in was broken into; their laptops and some of their property was taken, as related here by Cherie Priest; please, if you can, contribute something to these folks through this link. The laptops these folks had were ALL that they had to write on. If you can give anything, please do; show some love, folks!

It sucks that this dream that these folks worked so hard to get to is marred like this, but maybe some of us can make it better.

Regards and many thanks,

George

When I was much younger, my mom rented "Aria", a film made up of what essentially were music video/film pieces directed by famous directors including Fellini, Ken Russell and Robert Altman using equally famous pieces of music. I was spellbound; the pieces were wonderful, atmospheric and some were downright hilarious (including the one by Fellini that was SUPPOSED to be serious,) Rent this if you love opera, if you love creativity and if the interpenetration of art is something you like to see turned on its ear:)

An addendum; we have, connected to our TV, a set of wireless headphones. Occasionally, the cords hang down in the way of the set. During the film, both Patty and I were watching and said cord hung down just at the edge of the screen and, although it didn't bother me, I felt this nagging thought about moving it in my head. I did so. Patty freaked a bit.

"I was just thinking about moving that!"
My reply; "I know, I could hear it in my head from across the room, so..." I shrugged.

I often hear of people having connections with their soul mates; my wife and I, we're two hard drives connected to our loving duo-core processor (with back-up storage, too:))

As my opinion of the world of late hasn't been so great, when my friends introduced me to XKCD, I was at first, skeptical, but this panel today just made me smile:))

Also, I have hoped, since the tragedy of Heath Ledger's death, that his final perfomance would be a good one; I am not disappointed:)

A spicey situation...

For those that have never heard of it, I got wind, through my Mom today, of a place called Penzy's Spices. In our area, there's only one, but my Gods, it's worth looking into for anyone who cooks. Their selection is of only the highest quality and me, I never buy food over the net, so I got to check out the only store in the Cleveland area; it was worth it. The spices are AMAZING and I bought a few items including their sweet curry powder and a hot chocolate mix that is grand. I plan to go over there as much as I can because I love to experiment with different stuff. It's expensive, but it's worth it, folks:)

A Big Green Surprise...

I am the first to admit that, until recently, comic book movies sucked. Aside from a few exceptions, there were not many that I could like.

Not so now. Iron Man was great, a real ride that I could appreciate. Robert Downy Jr. did a great job and made Tony Stark someone 3-dimensional. After Ang Lee's really bad attempt to bring "Hulk" to the screen, I was a little dubious about accepting the new version.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised today; the new "Incredible Hulk" is worthy of the new standard. It was great.

I won't give much away, but I will say this; they did it right this time. The actor's emoted well, bringing layers to the performances that made the characters real. Edward Norton was, by far, more believable as Bruce Banner than David Bana and the chemistry between him and Liv Tyler, who did great herself, was really wonderful. Add in William Hurt's performance as "Thunderbolt" Ross, and Tim Roth, and then spice the whole thing up with a whole gaggle of references that you'll get a real kick out of (like I said, I give nothing away, but look, listen, and remember and you'll love it:))

All in all, Patty and I loved it; go see it if you love the characters and if you want a few bits of foreshadowing to soak through:))

Yep...

Nothing to see here...

Work's been okay, and I got an exceptional review this morning. I'm cool with that.

I am trying, perhaps in vain, to learn to play guitar on my own. I've discovered, much to my dismay, that my meathook fingers are not the most sensitive things on the strings; I tend to mute strings unintentionally due to over-fingerage (aka fat fingers,) I think I'm going to need to work on some alternate fingerings...that, or get a hand transplant...

In other news, I have music; I've discovered Roadrunner records, and some of their bands are very kickass:

The Wombats; "Let's Dance to Joy Division"

Nightwish; "The Islander"

Airbourne; "Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast"

Is cool, no?
